Uber offers free services on Election Day

October 5, 2018 - By Justin Balkhi

According to the officials from Uber, people will be able to ride for free to their polls during Election Day.

The company that is desperately trying to restore its good reputation is ready to show the act of good will on Election Day.

They have announced that they don’t allow the lack of transport became a reason why people who wanted to vote could not do that.

So, they offer free rides to a certain group of people who can’t ride to the polls themselves. They also are ready to help with finding local polling places to their passengers.

Uber will help to find people their polls and book free rides on November, the 6th. While it looks like a really nice gesture, Uber, unfortunately for the company, and luckily for voters, is not the only one company with such a policy on Election Day.

Its competitor, Lyft, is going to do the same, free rides for some people and half prices to get to the polls.

New CEO of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi says that they believe that every vote matters and decisions must be made by everyone who is willing to show up to the poll. According to her, Uber will work this day to support those people who want to make changes.

During the election of the 2016 year, 35 percent of young people explained their absence at the poll by lack of transportation.

Uber offers its help to the nonprofit organizations to help with registration of riders and drivers on the polls before deadlines.
